WHY? In order to purchase spirit wear, equipment, uniforms, and go to Myrtle Beach we’ll need money. It is essential to participate and help support the team by attending fundraiser events and selling poinsettias.
THERE IS NO SOFTBALL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. PLEASE COME PREPARED TO WORK HARD REGARDLESS OF YOUR SKILL LEVEL. BE CONFIDENT AND HAVE A POSITIVE OUTLOOK. MOST IMPORTANTLY, HAVE FUN!
ALL ATHLETES THAT PLAN ON PARTICIPATING ARE EXPECTED TO REPRESENT THEMSELVES, THEIR FAMILIES, OUR SOFTBALL TEAM, AND GAR-FIELD WITH HONESTY, INTEGRITY AND CHARACTER, WHETHER IT IS ACADEMICALLY, ATHLETICALLY, OR SOCIALLY. Participation on the softball team is a privilege, not a right, and should be treated as such. It has many benefits and will definitely offer exciting opportunities outside of the lines, but brings with it responsibility to be positive and effective members of the team, the school, and the community.
1.Most importantly, student comes before athlete. Stay on top of your grades! Anything less than your best in the classroom is unacceptable.
2.Respect the time and effort that your teammates and coaches are putting in—make coming to practice a priority (attendance policy to be discussed after teams are final). Arrive on time, come with a positive attitude, alert, ready to learn and contribute.
3.Take care of your body, practice eating healthy and good nutrition, and come into the season in good physical shape.
4.Follow all team rules and Gar-Field guidelines, and understand there will be consequences if you break them.
5.Respect your coaches, teammates, parents, officials, and opponents.
6.If a conflict arises; initiate communication with your coach as soon as possible.
7.Communicate effectively. If you’re unable to attend practice or arrive late/leave early this should be communicated with your coach once you’re made aware of the situation. Life happens, things come up unexpectedly, just please let us know.
Athletes who do not conform to these expectations will be held accountable and subject to consequences for their actions, which consequences may include, but are not limited to: not playing, written reprimand, parent conference, suspension or expulsion from the team.
